Introduction Productivity

Okay on my first article, I want to discuss about the ins and outs of the world of productivity. I am interested in discussing the productivity motivated by my undergraduate education precisely is Indonesian Industrial Engineering. Industrial Engineering itself is initially the science of how industry manages existing resources in an efficient and effective way. Of course I want to discuss ahead is the productivity application of industrial engineering that we can apply it in everyday life and the environment.

Or its easy language of productivity is how output or outcome is greater than input or effort. But this is only the goal of efficient nature. While the purpose of effective nature is how all our decisions are right on target. Or the resources that we use can be utilized well and according to allotment.

To make it easy for the lay reader to understand about productivity. I will convey 3 definitions of productivity that I take from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, ie

1. Philosophical definition which means a mental attitude that always sees that the quality of life today must be better than yesterday and tomorrow must be better than today.

2. The Economical-Value-Add definition is the ability of how to get the result achieved or the output is as big as the sacrifice of the resources used or the input is as small as possible.

3. Technical-Mathematical Definition is the ratio between the output of the obtained result can be either goods or services with inputs of all resources used to produce outputs such as man-power, goods or services and money-gained.

Okay actually productivity is something that is very grounded and not elusive because we can apply directly in our daily lives. Therefore it takes experience and a thorough understanding that productivity can help our lives.

Until now I have not found a definition that fits my thinking about productivity itself. But I am open to input from my readers about the science of productivity itself. I think this science will continue to grow following the challenges and the development of the times. Because the productivity of the first generation may be different from millenial generation productivity now. And what is very interesting is that the productivity of Indonesian people is certainly different from the productivity of Japanese and Americans. This is influenced by the discovery of technology that can help humans in the work.

So productivity is essentially how we provide more benefits for others. Therefore I never want to keep learning and improving myself for the good of myself, my family and society. Final words in the first article let us begin this lesson with the grace of God Almighty.
